A Taste of Kakheti is a private wine and food tour from Tbilisi, bringing together local flavours, traditional craftsmanship and the people who keep the region’s heritage alive. Meet a qvevri master, visit a family-run cheese dairy, explore Telavi on foot and finish at a winery with a garden.
This full-day journey is designed for your own group of up to six guests. It combines four different experiences rather than focusing only on wine tasting. You will discover the stories behind the products, meet local makers and enjoy a quieter look at everyday life in Kakheti. Tastings and lunch are paid separately from the private tour price.
Qvevri are large clay vessels used to ferment and store wine. During this visit, you will learn about the craftsmanship behind their making and their place in Georgia’s winemaking tradition. This is an opportunity to understand the vessel itself, not simply taste the wine it produces.
The visit concludes with a tasting of biodynamic wines. For background on this heritage, read about the traditional Georgian qvevri winemaking method on UNESCO’s website.

Next, local culinary traditions meet the distinctive atmosphere of a retro-style lounge. At the family-run cheese dairy, you will sample local cheeses and hear the story behind their production. This stop adds another flavour to the journey and a chance to learn about the people behind a family business.
Take a break from culinary discoveries with a walk through Telavi, one of Kakheti’s main historic towns. Its architecture, streets and everyday life provide a different perspective on the region. Your guide will introduce the town’s character and discuss its connections with Kakheti’s history and wine culture.
The final stop is a charming winery with a garden. Sample regional wines, learn about the winery’s approach and enjoy the relaxed surroundings. Together, these four stops make A Taste of Kakheti a journey through wine, food and craftsmanship, with time for both stories and personal encounters.
