Kakheti is Georgia’s main wine-producing region, and one of the best places to understand the story of Georgian wine – not through advertising slogans, but through the landscape itself: vineyards, centuries-old winemaking traditions, local grape varieties and, of course, the wine that is still made here using traditional methods.
Our route brings together several different sides of Kakheti. At a private winery, we’ll enjoy a professional wine tasting; at Bodbe Monastery, we’ll explore its history and take in panoramic views over the Alazani Valley; and in Sighnaghi, we’ll wander along cobbled streets, discover the history of the town and enjoy views of the valley and the Greater Caucasus from its historic fortress wall.
This is about more than wine. It is an opportunity to experience Kakheti through its history, culture, architecture and landscapes — and to understand why winemaking has become such an important part of Georgian culture.
Our route in details below.
We won’t simply tell you how beautiful Kakheti is.
You’ll experience it for yourself — tasting Georgian wine at a private winery, walking through the historic streets of Sighnaghi, exploring its 18th-century fortress wall and taking in the Alazani Valley with your own eyes.
Recommended departure: around 08:45, allowing enough time to enjoy the route comfortably while avoiding the heaviest traffic when leaving and returning to Tbilisi.
Tour format: Private tour
Departure: from your hotel in Tbilisi Old Town. If the hotel is located outside the Old Town, an additional charge may apply. These details are agreed upon in advance via correspondence.

Our Kakheti wine tour begins at a small private winery that opened just a few years ago but has already made a strong start, investing in high-quality equipment, modern technology and a professional team.
Here, we’ll explore contemporary Georgian winemaking and enjoy a professional Georgian wine tasting. We’ll talk about local grape varieties, the character of Georgian wines and the ways traditional winemaking practices meet modern techniques.

Bodbe is an active women’s monastery closely associated with Saint Nino, the woman credited with bringing Christianity to Georgia. Surrounded by flowers and cypress trees, the monastery stands above the Alazani Valley, with one of the most impressive views in Kakheti.
We’ll explore the history of Bodbe Monastery and Saint Nino, talk about monastic life and discover why Bodbe remains an important religious and cultural site in Georgia today.

Sighnaghi is often described as one of Georgia’s most romantic towns. With its red-tiled roofs, cobbled streets and historic houses, this small town feels almost like a little Kakhetian jewel above the Alazani Valley, with the Greater Caucasus on the horizon.
We’ll walk through the historic streets of Sighnaghi, learn about the town’s history and some of its famous residents, admire its traditional architecture and discover why Sighnaghi has become one of the best-known destinations in Kakheti.
There will be time for souvenirs, and if you wish, we can stop for lunch at a family-run café - naturally, somewhere with a view over the Alazani Valley.

We’ll also walk along part of Sighnaghi’s 18th-century defensive wall. Much of the town’s historic fortification system has survived, and walking along the wall gives us both a sense of Sighnaghi’s past and spectacular views over Kakheti.
Below us are the vineyards and the Alazani Valley, while on a clear day the Greater Caucasus rises beyond it.
